POWERLIGHTS


These devices are probably the ultimate for landing lights and navigation lights for the average LARGER SIZE of model and may be operated on 4.8v or 6v. They have a very wide angle of view (110 degrees). 9mm overall diameter with the dome 7mm diameter by 3mm high. These units have an MCD rating in excess of 250,000 MCD and can be run from 4.8v and 6v. These are the most intense lights in small packaged lighting for modelling purposes. They are the brightest in the inventory of Lighting for Aeromodellers
POWERLIGHTwill come with the lighting device ready mounted for you to connect to your switch/battery supply.
A heatsink IS NOT required with this device.
They are eminently suitable for the larger model.

These are a VERY intense set of lights with a VERY VERY HIGH MCD rating each. For the larger model. 9mm overall diameter with the dome 7mm diameter by 3mm high.

NOTE: POWERLIGHTS if not controlled by a resistor when battery operated or a special pcb circuit if a regulated voltage is used, can run quite hot. These lighting devices now included the appropriate voltage/wattage resistor for cool operations FROM 4.8V TO 7.2. You just connect them up to the device and power supply as per the leaflet/diagram that comes with the devices. Nothing simpler.

The RC switch requires a frame rate of 16.5ms. As the frame rates MAY differ between the many manufacturers of 2.4Ghz sets it is hit or miss whether YOUR particular make of 2.4Ghz set operates a frame rate change of 16.5ms and will operate the switch. These reflectors are really well made. Available for lighting devices 3mm and 5mm type Navigation Lights AND Landing Lights and purpose-built. Also fit the 5mm HYPER Landing and Navigation lights.<

The size of the reflectors is as follows: Bowl max diameter is 12mm and the total length of the reflector from front face to collar rear face is 8mm. The bowl is a highly polished "chrome" plastic and enhances the fitted light quite effectively. The front face has a lip to allow placement of an acetate lens or glass cover. Outstanding when used with either the 3mm size lighting devices or the 5mm devices mentioned above OR the NAV LIGHT devices below./font>

They flash at approx 1 flash per second. Uses about 30 milliamps. These are really tiny, measuring a 1.8mm "pimple" on a 2mm x 2mm square base. 90 degree angle of view. Available in RED /GREEN /YELLOW. Very pight in light output. Small enough to be placed behind panels such as radio or other electronic equipment to give an authentic light display. Even smaller are available on request (e.g 3.2mm long x 2.8mm wide x 1.9mm) with 120 degree angle of view in the above colours plus Blue and Amber.

YES! The fitting of lighting is very simple. Lighting devices have a useful life of thousands of hours when run at their correct operating voltage and fitted properly.

PLEASE NOTE.

Not all devices may be suitable for your model.

For instance, some Helicopters have Nav Lights set into the tips of wing stublets from the fuselage. These stub tips may be too thin to accomodate the PowerLights or 5mm diameter Standard and HYPERS or the Super 70/80 7mm x 7mm types. CENTURY/FUNKEY .30 size Agusta 109 (CN1073) being one type. However - They WILL accept the INTENSE 3mm diameter RED AND GREEN types available when tip position drilled out. (Ticklish job this).. Thin fixed wing wingtips could be another problem.

BEFORE considering lighting for your model you should send for details. Full details (NOT just prices) of ALL Types are contained in the printed details. You ARE advised to read them to avoid mistakes. I will answer SHORT e-mail technical queries.

High intensity type LEDs have a focussed light, and should be treated with due caution for your eyes. NEVER stare into a high power light or you will suffer irritated eye(s) for a number of days!.


If you are building a scale model, then it should be fitted with lighting if the original was also fitted with it. . .and even if it is not a scale job, your model will look all the better by having lights. If you ARE thinking of fitting lighting to your scale model (or any other type of model, be it fixed wing or helicopter), then do not wait too long before fitting lighting (it can be difficult to do when the model is completed (see RC forum questions such as

"How do I fit lighting to my model and what lighting should it have?".

A good think answers the first question and some research BY YOU answers the second!

Remember - It is much easier to install lighting in a model when it is being constructed rather than when it is built.



If you are "scratch building" from plans then life is a lot easier!

With so many foam wings in kits today, some already veneered, or veneering left for you to do, figuring out the lighting wiring can take time. However, foam wings have been fitted with lighting wiring quite successfully. As far as helicopters go, these can be a bit fiddly to do depending on the model. . so get in there early and do the wiring up before completion of the model.

Hundreds of modellers have already installed this lighting. It's simple, it's easy and using the new HYPER Landing and Navigation light or the standard SPOT landing Light and/or Super 70/80 Nav and Landing Lights mentioned below - your lighting will be brilliant.

REMEMBER - although we are only dealing battery power here you should pay as much attention to installing your lighting as you do building the model. HOWEVER - It IS essential that the modeller reads the instructions first. . .AND follow them and accompanying SIMPLE drawings/diagrams for a trouble free lighting installation.
