I deal with individual aeromodellers only.

5 STAR

These NEWLY INTRODUCED devices ( similar to the previous HYPER lights) are VERY intense and particularly suitable for NAV LIGHTS.
The WHITE LANDING LIGHT that goes with these lights is of equal high intensity.
The RED & GREEN are a matched pair and an angle of view of 85°.

These are OUTSTANDING lights and I really recommend them to you.

NAV & LANDING LIGHTS RED GREEN and WHITE. AMBER and a BLUE (a real nice POLICE BLUE) now available available for orientation lights.

BEFORE ordering these devices, particularly WHITE, please check with me that they ARE in stock, as supplies are extremely limited and there is approx a 30 day waiting time for new stock from the supplier/importer.
I am hoping that these lights will continue to be imported as they really are exceptional lights.

The POWERCHIP (WHITE) AND the POWERLIGHT (all colours) are excellent substitutes. SEE BELOW for details.

This unit will operate up to three 5mm or 3mm
red high intensity lighting devices (operating alternately) in the "fade up/peak intensity /fade down" mode
(similar to the rotating red lights seen on modern aircraft) or "Lighthouse effect".
Solid state. Controlled by programmed processor.
It can also operate with the POWERCHIP very high intensity WHITE lighting device if required.

Max voltage 6v without a resistor in the power supply line.
Other voltages up to 12v will require a resistor of appropriate value (10-15 ohm 1/4w ) inserted between power source and pcb unit.
Similar packaging as flashers mentioned below.

(Manufacturer's claim)

5 STAR

THE NEWEST AND ONE OF THE MOST INTENSE IN MY RANGE OF LIGHTING

MAKES A SUPERB LANDING LIGHT OR TAIL ORIENTATION LIGHT

5mm PowerChip WHITE (only) with VERY HIGH intensity AND a BIG 120° Angle of View.
With its outstanding light yield and current consumption of 80 milliamps/3.5v (Max luminous flux is 34 Lumens per Watt) and with light efficiency of 121 Lumens per watt - this Multichip Power LED is the world's most efficient 5mm LED.

This is an amazing lighting device.
It has proved to be one of the MOST intense 5mm diameter lights I have seen and tested on 4.8v and 6v.
Modellers have asked for very, very high intensity 5mm diameter landing lights

...THIS is the one ...especially when fitted to one of these reflectors (a perfect slop-free fit)

Highly recommended as a landing light.

Available in WHITE and once again available in RED and GREEN. Quite an intense lighting device at 80 lumens/ 1 watt.

This PLASTIC chromed reflector is PURPOSE MADE for POWERLIGHTS ONLY.

The POWERLIGHT really does not need a reflector - it is very powerful without -
A reflector with a landing light is usually required for scale appearances.
THESE ARE THE ONLY types that will allow a POWERLIGHT to be fitted.

The POWERLIGHT SNAPS INTO PLACE from the rear of the reflector.
Front of bowl 26mm. Rear of bowl 8mm. Front to back measures 16.5mm.

The reflector can however accomodate 8mm/10mm lighting of the typical LED standard shape.
It can also accomodate the DOMED ULTRALIGHT -by "fiddling"
i.e using silicone adhesive etc as a mounting.

SUPERLIGHTS - and ULTRALIGHTS

WILL COME with connecting power leads already soldered to them as soldering wires to them is quite tricky..

These are the most intense lights in small package lighting for modelling purposes.
They are outstanding sets of NAV LIGHTS showing TRUE COLOURS with superb, brilliant white landing lights.

The installation of 5mm type lights AND 3mm types
will require YOU to solder a resistor to connecting wires and the wires to the lighting device
a very simple job for a modeller to perform.

3mm DIAMETER TYPES
- A VERY INTENSE SET -

These are VERY HIGH intensity 3mm types. ( RED, GREEN WHITE)
The WHITE very suitable for models requiring engine cowling mounted
landing lights (Cessna or other types) - or, main/nose oleo lights or even wingtip white "strobes".

Reflectors for these 3mm lights (as shown above and below) are available. .

The (RED, GREEN) navigation lights are ideal for fitting into helicopter stub wings on rear of fuselages (Agusta 109 etc.,)
4.8v to 6v

SQUARE Lights 70/80 (7mm x 7mm)

RED-GREEN-WHITE Navs and Landing light have an 80 degree angle of view. Approx 3000 MCD.
4.8v to 6v

These scale- like reflectors are NOT sold to enhance brilliancy but as a scale accessory.
HOWEVER, when fitted with the 120 degree angle of view POWERCHIP lighting device, light is thrown some 15 to 20 feet.
Ideal for a landing light angled down from the nose of a helicopter. An excellent combination

There are TWO types of REFLECTORS to fit 5mm AND 3mm SPOT types. These are purpose made for the 3 and 5mm lighting devices and are of really well made chromed plastic.

Reflector size for BOTH 5mm and 3mm lighting devices as follows:

Bowl max diameter is 12mm and the total length of the reflector from front face to collar rear face is 8mm. The bowl is a highly polished "chrome" plastic and enhances the fitted light quite effectively. The front face has a lip to allow placement of an acetate lens cover.

Other types (look like torch reflectors) 14 mm 24mm AND a 40mm available (the latter with high polish finish).
(These will accept 5mm type devices as a loose fit.)

It should be noted however, these reflectors (14 mm and 24mm as they are metal types DO NOT FIT the SUPERLIGHT OR ULTRALIGHTS due their leads being axial and probable short circuits may occur if leads touch metal reflector. The SQUARE 70/80 type devices also do not fit.)

ROUND or ELLIPTICAL.

ROUND =10mm 15mm 20mm 25mm and 30mm.

Elliptical 25mm x 16mm - 30mm x 20mm - 42mm x 28mm

Please note that the supply of the above types of cover is sporadic and may be out of stock from time to time for a couple of weeks.
(Suppliers are a bit slow)

3mm types = OD: 9.5mm ID: 4.0mm Height= 4.8mm

5mm types = OD: 22.5mm ID: 18.0mm Height= 10.0mm
ALSO
OD: 25mm ID: 20mm HEIGHT: 13mm

Other sizes are available on request in the following outside diameters:-
12/14/15/19/22/25/28/31/38/45/50/57/63mm
above 31mm these can be quite expensive.

3mm TYPES now available as six pack single colour or mixed.
5mm TYPES and above sold for the number you require at an individual price.
SOLID ACRYLIC NOT ACETATE

Green not available as it is really a yellow/green...more yellow than green!)

These covers are not something you come across in the local model shop.

The flasher comes as one of the following arrangemnents
(a) 2 WHITE 5mm in synchro for wingtips.
OR (b) 2 RED 5mm in synchro for Obstruction/Hazard lights.
OR (c) 2 WHITE 5mm in synchro and 1 RED 5mm alternating Obstruction/Hazard light.
OR (d) 2 RED 5mm in synchro and 1 WHITE 5mm alternating. Obstruction/Hazard lights.

OR (e) 2 RED 5mm synchro & 2 WHITE 5mm alternating with RED 5mm and each other. Obstruction/Hazard lights.
OR (f) 2 WHITE 5mm synchro & 2 RED 5mm alternating with 3rd WHITE 5mm and each other. Obstruction/Hazard lights.

These units are approx 38mm long x 20mm wide by 5mm thick.

ALL THE ABOVE WILL HAVE 5mm HIGH INTENSITY LIGHTING DEVICES FITTED BUT I CAN FIT 3mm if requested, The 3mm are also high intensity.

Due to processor specifications
THIS FLASHER IS NOT SUITABLE FOR THE POWERCHIP VERY HIGH INTENSITY LIGHTING DEVICES.

THE UNIT LOOKS SIMILAR TO THAT SHOWN BELOW

Ideal as a
WHITE FLASHER and/or RED OBSTRUCTION/HAZARD
strobe as some full size aircraft display.

Flashes once per second using 70 degree angle of view high intensity lighting device(s) in the STANDARD flasher unit.

Please note that this unit may be ordered with 2 of the NEW 5mm POWERCHIP VERY HIGH INTENSITY WHITE devices (120 DEGREE ANGLE OF VIEW) in place of the normal high intensity types. The POWERCHIP version using just one 5mm WHITE POWERCHIP device on 6v is of VERY HIGH INTENSITY almost like a camera flashgun. Using two, synchronised..phenominal!

Due chip specifications, the unit will NOToperate a 5mm POWERCHIP and a 5mm STANDARD high intensity red together.

It WILL however, operate

(a) TWO WHITE 5mm POWERCHIPS TOGETHER
OR
(b) TWO HIGH INTENSITY 5mm REDS TOGETHER.
OR
(c) A STANDARD PAIR OF HIGH INTENSITY
5mm WHITES
OR
(d) ONE STANDARD 5mm RED
AND ONE STANDARD 5mm WHITE

There will be a slight extra charge for the POWERCHIP VERY high intensity types as they are more expensive to buy in.

This simple SINGLE or DOUBLE SYNCHRONISED unit for RED and/or WHITE lighting devices comes as a lightweight, small rubberised heatshrink covered package (1.5 inch X 1/2 inch x 1/4 inch thick) / (38mm x 15mm x 7mm - all approximate measurements. Can be tucked away anywhere on board a model. Operates from 4.8v or 6v without modifications

THE UNIT LOOKS SIMILAR TO THAT SHOWN ABOVE AND ARE HANDMADE TO ORDER.

Resistors NOT required for flasher units which operate both on 4.8v and 6v MAX.

Fitted with an 80 Lumens cool running HIGH INTENSITY WHITE LIGHT device & collimating lens.
May also now be fitted with a RED or GREEN lighting device and used as a large model quite high intensity nav light. SIZE = 20mm diameter X 13mm front to back.

Throws an intense spot 1 FOOT diameter (300 mm) onto a flat surface from about 10 FEET (3m) away.

Similar type with heatsink sold by a well known German model helicopter firm for £30.00!
This is the same device WITHOUT the rear heatsink plate.
The lighting device can be removed from the unit for replacement if ever required.

Wired and comes with appropriate resistor to operate from 4.8v to 6v.

LARGE LIGHTHEAD

Can be used with both types of flasher if required at slight extra cost. Comes fitted with lighting device and 6" connecting wires.

LIGHTHEADS shown below are also available. See the PDF details.

NOTE: ALL flashers will have approx 6 inches (152mm) of battery connecting wire and 6 inches of OUTPUT wires.

NOTE: From a flight safety point of view - (and plain common sense) - the lighting shown on this web page
should NOT be operated from the same battery supply as the receiver/servos.
Some of these lights make quite a demand of a battery pack.
Using a receiver battery pack is certainly not recommended.
4.8v is quite adequate but should be 1200 milliamps or more.
You CAN NOW OBTAIN AAA NiMH cells of 2500 milliamps which will be quite adequate for lighting.
YOU DO NOT NEED A HIGH VOLTAGE FOR LIGHTING as most devices use less than 4 volts

Voltages above the max voltage of a device without use of a resistor (or similar)
WILL result in destruction of the device.
Please state the voltage the lights will be operated from (4.8V TO 6V) BUT SEE safety note above.

The resistor value / wattage is mathematically worked out. This allows the lighting devices to operate at maximum brilliancy and efficiency. it should not be changed for any other value or wattage.

NOTE: SUPERLIGHTS/HYPERLIGHTS/ULTRALIGHTS/POWERLIGHTS
If not controlled by a resistor when battery operated or a special pcb circuit if a regulated voltage is used, can run quite hot. These lighting devices now included the appropriate voltage/wattage resistor for cool operations FROM 4.8V TO 6v. You just connect them up to the device and power supply as per the leaflet/diagram that comes with the devices.

These are superb NAVIGATION and LANDING LIGHTS as hundeds of modellers in the UK and overseas have already found out.

This is MICROPROCESSOR DUAL CHANNEL RC SWITCH enabling it to operate switching of LANDING LIGHTS and any other lighting on the switch's 2 separate channels from 2.4 ghz AND PPM/PCM transmitter/receivers. This unit resembles in size and weight an RC extension lead 8 inches long.
Comes with manufacturers comprehensive instruction sheet (which you should read) showing various uses of the switch so that the full potential of the RC SWITCH can be understood and taken advantage of.

RC SWITCH MAX voltage is 6v.

I DO NOT MAKE UP LIGHTING WITH A WIRING HARNESS AS ALL MODELS ARE DIFFERENT.

Ideal for lighting connections where required. These can also be made up for extension leads. They also fit HITEC and FUTABA receivers and servo sockets and can be secured for extra safety by heatshrink tubing of the correct diameter (5mm).
Positive fitting - no slop - solid pins. As used in the electronics industry. MAX 3 amps.
No problem with lighting.

These are really tiny, measuring a 1.8mm "pimple" on a 2mm x 2mm square base. 90 degree angle of view. Available in RED GREEN YELLOW. Very bright in light output. Small enough to be placed behind panels such as radio or other electronic equipment to give an authentic light display. Ideal for heli instrumen panels. No other colours are made in this particular lighting device spec.
Available as a six pack mixed or two of each or all one colour

FLEXI STRIP SURFACE MOUNT LIGHTING
AVAILABLE IN RED, GREEN WHITE and AMBER.
SUPER BRIGHT AND THIN!

These are NOT standard LEDS mounted on a strip but surface mount components.
Photo above shows strips mounted on new MIKROKOPTER frame and powered by a LiPo battery. Segments will operate from any 6v+ to 12v battery. Full strip needs 12v.

Available in strips of 3/6/12/18 etc to 66. (43 inches long) Lighting devices and only 2mm thick! Brilliant lights as shown in photo above.

This small and lightweight board measures (1.5 inches X 3/4 inch) or approx 40mm X 20mm.
The LED booster typically boosts an input voltage of 1.5volts to an output voltage of 3 volts sufficient to power an LED or other small components. The LED booster operates at a very low current level and can give a new lease of life to what otherwise might be regarded as 'flat' batteries.
Ideal for a small model when just a landing light or - a SINGLE FLASHER UNIT (as mentioned above) - is required.
IT'S READY MADE.
All you have to do is fit the lighting device/connecting wires to board and add a single AA battery and a small on/off switch.
INCLUDES 5mm HIGH INTENSITY LIGHT & SINGLE AA BATTERY HOLDER.

These photographs show a Bolkow model fitted with the earlier multiple second generation 5mm SPOT type 1600 mcd lighting devices and did NOT require to be photographed in complete darkness or on wet ground, to show their intensity!

The latest lighting is even more intense.

COMMON NAV LIGHT POSITIONS

NOTE: NAVIGATION LIGHTS are switched on when the aircraft is on the ground AND during flight and ONLY switched off when the aircraft has landed and switched off the engine(s).

Surprisingly, quite a number of modellers seem not to be aware of positions and operation of lighting on aircraft and ask me with what lighting their particular model should be fitted!

I think researching YOUR particular model is the answer.

The positions shown above are fairly common. However..lighting positions DO vary from aircraft to aircraft EXCEPT for NAVIGATION LIGHTING (RED-GREEN-WHITE tailight).

IF a HELI is fitted with rear fuselage "winglets" (Agusta 109) then these may have NAV LIGHTS on them and also have white flashing strobes fitted.

YES! The fitting of lighting is very simple. Lighting devices have a useful life of thousands of hours (40,000 on average) when run at their correct operating voltage and fitted AND used properly.

PLEASE NOTE.
Not all devices may be suitable for your model.

For instance, some Helicopters have Nav Lights set into the tips of wing stublets from the fuselage. These stub tips may be too thin to accomodate the Ultralights or PowerLights or 5mm diameter Standard and HYPERS or the Super 70/80 7mm x 7mm types. CENTURY/FUNKEY .30 size Agusta 109 (CN1073) being one type. However - They WILL accept the INTENSE 3mm diameter RED AND GREEN types available when tip position drilled out. (Ticklish job this)..Thin fixed wing wingtips could be another problem.

Many modellers have told me they are out of their depth when dealing with lighting and associated wiring (or as some say) "not used to electricity"!
IF YOU CAN CONNECT A BATTERY to a couple of points, then you CAN fit lighting to your model! It's that easy. You will find the leaflets and diagrams that come with your order easy enough to follow, enabling you to set up your lighting properly. These are in no way "flat pack" type instructions! All you have to do is read them.

It is much easier to install lighting in a model when it is being constructed rather than when it is built.

ALL lighting purchases are accompanied by SIMPLE diagrams with simple instructions so that the modeller can fit the lighting with ease.

REMEMBER - although we are only dealing battery power here you should pay as much attention to installing your lighting as you do building the model. HOWEVER - It IS essential that the modeller reads the instructions first. . .AND follow them and accompanying SIMPLE drawings/diagrams for a trouble free lighting installation.

Advice BEFORE and AFTER you buy (although, if you read the instructions that come with the goods you should not need to ask AFTER you buy!). ALSO, if you ARE building a SCALE model, do research the original. . .it all helps.

NO expensive gimmicks to make the lights work. Simple to set up.

You could not ask for a better specification than these. If you want VERY high intensity lighting of high quality then a set of Nav lights and Landing Lights by Lighting for Aeromodellers should be your choice.. Wide angles of view with very high intensity (especially when you use a fully charged battery!!)

SEND FOR PDF DETAILS OF ALL LIGHTING AVAILABLE.
GET THE FULL INFORMATION BEFORE MAKING ANY DECISION.

Ordering "blind" from this page does NOT make things quicker or easier.
Telephone calls and e-mails can help, but misunderstandings can (and do) occur if ordering WITHOUT reading about what you want first (and checking its suitability for your model)

The printed details contain everything you want to know - and more.
These are THE lights modellers have been looking for - for years. They are superb, very high intensity lights produced for serious applications by the electronics industry where high intensity lighting is required. Even the most critical of modellers should be pleased with them.

Reading about - and seeing what you are going to require is the best bet. . . it saves time and trouble (especially if you get it wrong!)
NOW - - Treat yourself to some decent lighting.

You will not be disappointed. You will be surprised as to what is available.
